About the Course

Federal construction contracts are demanding. They are complex to manage, technically challenging, driven by strict specifications, and often compressed into construction windows that make a project feel ten days behind on the day it’s awarded. What’s rarely discussed is what a contractor should do when the job goes sideways. This course explains the full process of preparing and submitting a Request for Equitable Adjustment (REA). Paired with the Modifications course, it gives you the tools and understanding needed to handle the issues behind nearly 90 percent of conflicts that arise in the field. And if your project becomes one of the unfortunate ten percent that escalate, this course equips you to understand the claims process, protect your rights, and position your REA for a successful claim—delaying the need for legal services until the point where you can hand off a well-prepared case to legal counsel.

About the Creator

Justin Lambert’s construction career spans more than four decades, beginning as a young jobsite gopher and progressing into a seasoned Project Engineer on heavy civil, marine, and vertical federal projects. His drive to learn led him to earn a BS in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he built a strong problem-solving foundation and a mission-focused mindset. He served the Government both on Active Duty and later as a short-term GS employee with USACE, earning multiple credentials required for Contracting Officer qualification. Still, the pull toward entrepreneurship remained strong, and today, as the owner of TLL Enterprises, Justin draws on this broad experience to help contractors navigate the complex demands of federal construction and the FAR.
